The Maintenance Coordinator directs and supervises employees and contractors maintaining and repairing equipment to achieve efficient, safe, and reliable operation of the plant. Participate in work planning and scheduling activities. Take a collaborative approach to problem solving and use coaching and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
General James M. Gavin Power Plant is a 2,600-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power station in the village of Cheshire, Ohio, United States. It is owned by Lightstone Generation LLC, a 50–50 joint venture of The Blackstone Group L.P. and ArcLight Capital Partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, plan, direct, and/or organize plant activities including installation, overhaul, alteration, maintenance, and repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment, instruments, controls, or buildings, including capital improvements and various preventative maintenance programs.
- The maintenance supervisor participates in weekly work schedule meetings and develops the week’s prioritized schedule for assigned contract partners and in house maintenance crews. The schedule will include planning for contracting services and outages.
- Conduct thorough job briefs using 3-way communication and a strong focus on hazard identification and elimination. Maintain and ensure safe working conditions, use of proper tools and equipment, and protective clothing & devices. Check and maintain assigned housekeeping areas. Conduct debriefs with employees to ascertain job status and seek feedback (parts used/needed, roadblocks, housekeeping issues, improvement ideas).
- Actively seek ways to improve productivity and eliminate waste. Investigate abnormal operating conditions, equipment failures, equipment design issues, operating and maintenance problems. Identify and analyze root causes and drive continuous improvement with crew members and others through waste elimination and implementation of ideas.
- Share contractor coordination duties amongst other supervisors and coordinators. Assist with developing work scope for contractor bids and contracts, requesting contractor quotes and contract requests, tracking budgets, and working with accounting on actual cost of jobs as needed. Assist with providing input to annual budget and monthly forecasts. Assist in the development of long- and short-range plans for maintenance, capital improvement, availability, and safety.
- Participate in On Call rotation. Work fair share of exempt overtime which at times may include weekend or night shift coverage for urgent jobs or startup support.
- Supervise all work activities in accordance with the policies, practices, standards, and rules of the company. Attend monthly safety meetings. Participate in accident investigations and the use of root cause analysis or other methods to maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited university or college and 5 years power plant or industrial experience; or 8 years related worked experience.
- Detailed working knowledge of the overall operating fundamentals and principles of generating station systems, equipment, and processes.
