The University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College is seeking applications for a full-time University Partnership Program (UPP) Coordinator in the Social Work program.  This full-time administrative (salaried) positon is responsible for the administration and oversight of the University Partnership Program/Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program at Rio.  
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
  • Provides oversight and cohesive management of UPP student cohorts enrolled in child welfare courses.   
  • Oversees student recruitment for the UPP program.  Creates and disseminates program application materials. Corresponds with and interviews students to evaluate potential and interest in the program. Ensures the maximum number of students are enrolled in UPP by recruiting, screening, and approving applicants. Ensures all students complete the standardized application process and participate in an Orientation to UPP. Coordinates educational presentations and orientations. Admits the allowable number of students to the program annually.  Matches students with appropriate field placements according to student and agency needs. 
  • Explores new opportunities to meet training needs, develops new field placements sites and provides training to field instructors.  Provides training, support, and education to field supervisors 
  • Builds relationships, recruits and supports enough county agencies (PCSAs) to ensure all students have a field placement site. Provides UPP Orientation and ongoing training to field instructors and agencies. Serves as the liaison between the university's social work program and field placement agency. Ensures that students participate in at least one hour of field supervision a week, provides co-instruction if needed. Holds regularly scheduled conferences with the field instructor(s) (4 x annually) and student (each semester) to evaluate student progress, course curriculum, and field experience and activities. Recruits and trains UPP field instructors. 
  • Provides instruction and delivers the standardized two course child welfare curriculum that represents the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program CORE Training with the two child welfare courses (Child Welfare I and Child Welfare II) and UPP field seminar curriculum for the college.  Updates course curriculum as the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program advises. Oversees additional instructors teaching the child welfare courses  to ensure standardization of material.  Arranges SACWIS Learning Labs to coordinate with courses. Schedules and coordinates the required Learning Labs in conjunction with child welfare classes  
  • Ensures students and field instructors complete learning plans. Helps students integrate theory (classroom) and practice (field). Schedules individual conferences with students to evaluate their progress in the program and discuss their experiences and problems. Facilitates regularly scheduled group meetings with students to enhance or supplement topic areas covered in class or field 
  • Serves as UPP field liaison to monitor and access student placements; recruits and trains field instructors/supervisors to work with students in field placement; meets at least once each term with field instructor/agency supervisor and student to review learning progress. Helps field instructor(s) develop special field activities to coordinate with classroom learning (Key Field Activities for UPP Interns) Assesses student learning needs and reviews individual learning and placement plans. Evaluates effectiveness of placement programs.    
  • Administers and coordinates student contracts with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and authorizes stipend payments for participating students who fulfill contract obligations. Ensures ODJFS contract compliance.
  • Facilitates post-graduation job placement.  
  • Establishes partnership with Public Childrens Services Agencies (PCSAs).   
  • Provides consultation to PCSAs to ensure agencies are ready to provide placements and receive students into employment.  
  • Participates in the State of Ohio UPP management team to develop quality improvement measures.  
  • Updates PCSAO on the status of the University UPP program.  
  • Enters and maintains data in the UPP/ CAPS LMS database 
  • Participates in UPP Annual Evaluation 
  • Participates in Statewide UPP meetings (Monthly Staff meetings, Annual Retreat and PCSAO Conference) and subcommittee work groups, as required 
  • Develops a Child Abuse Certificate/ Minor at the University of Rio Grande. 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be a licensed social worker. Experience in child welfare preferred.
