General James M. Gavin Power Plant is a 2,600-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power station in the village of Cheshire, Ohio, United States. It is owned by Lightstone Generation LLC, a 50–50 joint venture of The Blackstone Group L.P. and ArcLight Capital Partners.



The Plant Engineer is responsible for performing entry and intermediate level engineering work activities, requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe and responsible manner. 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide technical guidance with respect to all plant activities to ensure compliance with all appropriate local, state and federal environmental control regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Act and other applicable laws and regulations
  • Support all Plant Safety & Environmental Policies and Procedures. Keep Safety and Environmental as the top priority with respect to all responsibilities and efforts.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture where energy is utilized to identify and improve business gaps.
  • Embrace personal development opportunities, either by exposure or training.    
  • Execute or coordinate root cause analysis to determine failure mechanisms.
  • Ability to lead maintenance or project improvement opportunities.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of facility’s heat rate parameters and improvement opportunities.
  • Optimize material, parts, and equipment inventories to maintain facility in a responsible manner.
  • Provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the various plant systems and supporting ancillary equipment.
  • Recommend and direct strategic improvements to equipment design, operations, and maintenance initiatives.
  • Support the development of plant O&M and capital forecast, as well as formulate business cases.
  • Responsible for project KPI’s: safety, environmental, budget, schedule, quality, reliability, etc.
  • Ability to develop technical/construction work scopes and thoroughly review technical proposals.
  • Follow the Management of Change Program requirements.
  • Ensure document control processes are followed.

Requirements


Qualifications and Skills:



  • B.S. or advanced degree in a related engineering discipline from an accredited university or Associate degree with 10 years of power plant experience.
  • Computer Skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint); AutoCAD; Asset Suite; Primavera (P6)
  • Commitment to achieving zero harm with respect to safety and environmental compliance.


Preferred Experience and Skills



  • Control systems: Emerson Ovation, ABB S+ Engineering, Allen-Bradley PLC-5, SLC-500, ControlLogix 5000, OSIsoft (PI)
  • Industrial equipment: process pumps, industrial fans, conveyor systems, piping, valves, coal pulverizers, industrial boilers, switchgear, transformers, turbines, generators, pollution control equipment, electric motors, VFD’s, other power plant equipment
  • Software: ABB Asset Suite, Bower BI, AutoCAD, Primavera (P6)
  • Predictive Maintenance Technologies
  • Project Management
  • Root Cause Analysis Experience
