MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

Qualifications

• At least one of these required: CT, LPC, LPCC, LPCC-S, LSW, or LISW
• The ability to assess an individual's need for clinical services.
• Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and referral sources.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in significant matters.
• Knowledge of state and national certification and regulatory standards.
• Strong work ethic, dependable, able to work well with others, good communication skills, organized, and good attitude.
• Working knowledge of office computer programs, willingness to learn EHR programs.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and auto insurance.
• Pass BCI and FBI check.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, individual and group counseling, case management, and crisis intervention.
• Assess patient's risk of suicide
• Evaluate the client's physical or mental condition based on a review of client information.
• Collaborate with mental health professionals and other staff members to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans.
• Act as client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crises.
• Learn about new developments in counseling by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
• Must possess and demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills.
• Must complete accurate and timely documentation, capable of meeting deadlines.
• Effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Arrange for, and assist clients with inpatient hospitalization, financial, social, transportation, and medical management (case management).
• Responsible for utilization of Protective Health Information regarding past, present
• and future agency population and clients.
• Carry out duties that are necessary to the general practice of the agency.
• Other duties as assigned by Clinical Supervisor or Executive Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
