The University of Rio Grande / Rio Grande Community College announces an opening in the School of Allied Health for a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor/Clinical Coordinator position in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program beginning January 2025. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and support to DMS students and assumes teaching duties as directed by the Program Director. 
  • Assumes responsibility for planning, managing, coordinating, and supervising all clinical experiences of students enrolled in the DMS Program.
  • Shares responsibility for the organization, periodic review, records, continued development, and general policy and effectiveness of the program
  • Assign and evaluate clinical experience available at clinical sites for all students.
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of students during scan lab assignments.
  • Plan, teach, provide, and evaluate learning experiences for assigned songraphy courses.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge of area(s) being taught.
  • Evaluate and recommend additions to learning experiences and resources.
  • Relate student learning experiences in class with experiences in the sonography lab, hospital, and clinical environment.
  • Prepare and grade quizzes and tests; evaluate assignments completed by the students; maintain a record of all grades assigned to the students scheduled for the course and be responsible for the final grade given each student.
  • Plan and conduct faculty and student evaluation of the course assigned.
  • Participate in revision of courses based upon faculty and student evaluation, current trends, and available research.
  • Integrate and reflect the basic philosophy and educational objectives of the DMS Program.
  • Cooperate with the administration and Program Director in carrying out stated policies and regulations.
  • Display team-oriented behavior and encourage colleagues in effective teamwork.
  • Maintain high standards of scholarship within the Program.
  • Assist in the formulation of curricular changes within the Program, School, and College.
  • Assume responsibility for committee assignments within the Program, School, and College.
  • Attend student and faculty functions.
  • Participate in organized recruitment activities as needed.
  • Assist in the selection of students accepted in the DMS Program.
  • Assume responsibility for advising a group of assigned students and provide supportive help in academic, clinical, and/or personal areas which impinge on their overall performance.
  • Assist in securing and maintaining appropriate accreditation and recognition of the total program.
  • Assume responsibility for personal and professional development by participating in programs sponsored by professional and other health organizations.

Position Qualifications: 

  • Currently registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in appropriate learning concentrations
  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program
  • Possess a variety of clinical experiences in multiple sonography specialties
  • Possess a Bachelor Degree or higher in appropriate discipline
