Direct Support Professional

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, in their daily activities. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by promoting independence and encouraging personal growth. As a DSP, you will work closely with clients to assist them in achieving their personal goals while ensuring their safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
• Support individuals in social interactions and community engagement to foster social skills and relationships.
• Monitor and record vital signs as necessary, ensuring any changes in health are communicated to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients, adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
• Provide companionship and emotional support, encouraging clients to express themselves and participate in various activities.
• Assist with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring clients as required while following proper safety protocols.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.
• Engage clients in recreational activities that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.

Skills

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of long-term care practices and dementia care techniques is beneficial.
• Ability to perform basic cooking tasks while adhering to dietary restrictions or preferences of clients.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and their families.
• Proficiency in monitoring vital signs and recognizing changes that may require attention.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
• Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care and support for individuals in need.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.85 - $17.85 per hour
