Responsible for notifying customers of delinquent accounts by mail, telephone, or personal visits to solicit payments. Communicate in an assertive, yet emphatic, way with overdue customers in an attempt to locate individuals in order to retrieve payments or assets. Shared responsibility for every function of the Collection Department which includes, but is not limited to, collection of past-due commercial, real estate, installment, and credit card accounts, liquidation of repossessed assets and recovery of charged-off assets. Determines reason for loan default and attempts to secure repayment. Creates account settlement plans which must be approved by a supervisor or manager. Initiates skip tracing or asset searches as needed. May initiate legal proceedings against customers.

Collector I - Performs work under direct supervision. Possesses a beginning to working knowledge of subject matter. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Typically requires a high school diploma and zero to two years of experience.
